Emma, Ernest, and The Power in every word!

Over a year ago I bought the book,"Scientific Christian-Mental Practice", by Emma Curtis Hopkins. Being a student of Ernest Holmes, I was so excited to learn about his great teacher. For over a year, I would pick up the book, read a bit, then it would go unread for a month or so and the I'd pick it up again...and on like this until December. Then, a few of my friends from CSL invited me to join in "Emma Circles" , I leaped at the opportunity to finally explore Emma properly and get to share my experience with others.
I picked up the book, started reading...it was different this time, she was Speaking To ME! I kept reading...then I began taking notes...I realized I"This is a song.. I am writing a song here..." the words(as has been happening to me quite a bit lately) just came pouring our of me! I was so happy, so grateful, so free!
I have written a lot of songs, but the ones that have come me lately are filled with Power, Love, Fury, Fire, Passion...I hear them being sung...I see them being performed.
In the past poems, songs, stories, plays come to me easily(everything from show tunes to chants)but these new songs have brought me to a new place! I feel I am am steeping onto yet another new Stage. One filled with my Pure Light!
Dr. Holmes writes,"The potential knowledge of all things exits in (this) Mind; that the abstract essence of beauty, truth and wisdom co-exist in the Mind of The Universe, that we also exist in it and may draw from it. BUT WHAT WE DRAW FROM IT WE MUST DRAW THOUGH THE CHANNEL OF OUR OWN MINDS"(SOM pg 40).
The vision of being "plugged in" to the One Mind got me thinking about one of my fave improv games, "Remote Control". Where an audience member has an imaginary remote control and actors on stage perform scenes from TV shows and the audience member "changes the channel" and the actors change the "Show". It's a lot of fun! I love being different character, exploring different genres, always going for the laugh...
So many times I feel someone else is holding my remote control, changing my channel without watching the whole show...
These are the times I remind myself to strengthen My Connection, not worry about the loud commercials, but just realize My power, that no matter what Show is on, I am in it. Present. Aware.
The events of the past few weeks have touched us all deeply, I am hugging my kids a little longer, calling my folks a bit more frequently. Just being grateful for my life, in general. But, all this talk over words..funny...the song I wrote is called,"There's power in every word". It's new thought-rock anthem!!(think Janis)

"There's power in every word"

The first piece of truth is God.
Sing out and be set free!
The first piece of truth is God,
Sing out, sing out with me.
The first drop of rain is Good
To cleanse and purify me,
The first drop of rain is Good
I let Gods Love Reign over me!

By Mind alone we're taught to be strong
We share the strength of the Word
By Mind alone We Are so strong
We share the power of The World
By Mind alone we Are so Strong
We bring love with the Power of the Word!

Our Hearts are open now
Our hearts are open now
One Mind, One Heart, One World we start
MY God MY Good Is ME!
Our Hearts are open now,
Our hearts are open now
renew your life, jump out of strife
above, away from the physical play
Re New your Hope
define your scope
reach up, reach out be Free

Our hearts are open now,
our hears are open now
One Mind One Heart One World lets start
It's time We Defy Gravity
Our hearts are open now,
Our hears are open now,
reach up, reach out Jump up and shout,
I'm free when I say I am free.
Jump up and shout,
Hey world I"m out
It's time we Defy Gravity!!

Our hearts are open now
Our hearts are open now
ONE MIND
ONE HEART
ONE WORLD
LET'S START
WE'RE FREE WHEN WE SAY WE ARE FREE
ONE MIND ONE HEART ONE WORLD LET'S START

IT'S TIME WE DEFY GRAVITY

MY GOD MY GOOD IS ME

I AM FREE

Thank you Emma!

Now, this past week has also shown us the Power in the word in so may ways. A decade ago I read an article which prompted me to think about removing certain,"toxic"words from my life. I began with "Kill". I wrote a poem about it. It went something like this:

No-Kill Zone

What if I took the word Kill out of my vocabulary:
"This headache is killing me,
Jacob if you touch that again I'll kill you,
The red Sox kill me every year,
If I don't get that part I'll just Kill myself,
How many soldiers has fkn Bush Killed today,
This is some killer shit
I killed that bottle of diet coke,
I swear if I hear that song one more time I will kill you!
If that guy doesn't drive faster I am gonna kill him
He has a Killer body
That set Killed, I knocked em dead!!
Would it kill ya to pick up that towel?

give peace a chance, would it kill ya!

I have maintained my curtailing of the use of that word and many others of that nature. It's much easier to live in peace.

All you need is love

Peace,love and Happiness,
Julie
