ON Stage-100 words of love

Today is  my brother's birthday.  It's a Good day.  I am beginning a new page in the book of my life.  I decided to challenge myself to write a 100 word poem.(it's an interesting task, try it!)  These past few months have been some of the most challenging in my life.   And now, finally, I have broken on through to the other side, and I am bathing in the Light!!  I am currently finishing the script for my Solo performance piece; and preparing to Direct a one-man show for a good friend.   Reflecting on my life, I have broken things down(as many before me) into 'Stages".  I have spent a lot of this life acting, singing, dancing and directing;   often, speaking the words of others. I have been on stages all over the world. I have written several plays, thousands of sketches and many, many songs.  This got me thinking a lot about how many different stages I have danced upon, and how many exits I have endured.  People have always asked ,"Why theater?" Don't you want to be in film or TV?"  As if that would legitimize my career choice. Well, yes, I have worked in many different areas of entertainment and I know: anything is possible; but I love the Theater.  The immediacy of it.  I love having an audience to laugh and cry with me, sharing my joy.   I love Theater, to me, it is the most Sacred Art form. I am blessed every time I walk onto a Stage.

                                            ON Stage

On stage I am gone.   A life lost within the Light.  Dancing another’s steps.  Speaking words by another.  Moving in fashions; designs not mine.  Where am I a midst the whispers in the dark?  It is in the Heart I am found.  Releasing Intentions.  The world melts and the words become my own.  Striving not to become, but to be.   Waltzing gracefully scene by scene.  Looking out, I breathe in your energy.  We connect and I feed off your indulgence.  Remaining detached in our complete commitment.  I exit the stage whole; resplendent with echoes of many hands sharing love.

go see a show!
